The Astro 6 will be available to go to their forever homes in July. Due to my travel plan, we are accepting early applications for those interested in adopting two or more kittens. If we are unable to find a good match for any of the kittens in pairs, they will be available individually (to a home with a playful and friendly kitty or two) at a later date. Please note that all these kittens are used to having a playmate, so they shouldn’t be solo kitties in their new homes. If you are interested in adopting multiple kittens from this group, please read more about our process and apply! If you’re unsure which kittens to choose, feel free to leave it open for discussion.
- We are located in South Houston, TX, but we do consider out of state adoptions as we’ve had many successes adopting our kittens out of Texas. We kindly ask all potential adopters to come meet the kittens in their home, where they are most comfortable. You will get to know their personalities much better when they are in their element. This also gives you and us the opportunity to learn more about each other, ask questions, and make the final decision. I don’t ever want the adopter to feel pressured, and I want them to have plenty of time to get to know the kittens in person before taking them home. If you are coming from out of town, you are encouraged to meet them, go back to your lodging to think about it, and come back to adopt them if that’s what you decide to do. My goal is to find my kittens their “FOREVER” home, not a home that might give up on them in the future.
- By early/mid July, all the kittens will be spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, final fecal/FIV/FELV tested.
- Our adoption fee is $200 per kitten. On average, we spend $250-600 on each kitten, as we take in kittens with medical conditions. Vaccinations, spaying/neutering alone cost over $200. We also take them in for treatments such as parasites, ringworm, infections, etc., which can cost an additional $200-500. We also provide our kittens high quality food and supplements. Our rescue is solely run by donations from our supporters, and as a small non-profit organization, we do not profit from saving and adopting out our kittens. (100% of donations goes to saving and caring for our kittens.) We take pride in our care and personalized attention to each kitten. We believe that learning more about individual personalities, socializing, and exposing them to different experiences can lead them to more fulfilled lives. If you find our adoption fee too high, many shelters often offer free adoptions.
- Kittens will be kittens. They will get into things, test your patience by climbing on places they shouldn’t, unroll paper towels, and perhaps break things in your home. If you haven’t had kittens in a while, it is highly recommended that you cat-proof your home prior to bringing your new furry members! One thing I can tell you is that two kittens are better than one. They will entertain each other, teach each other about biting, and have friends for life.
Get To Know Astro 6
Leo
Leo is a spunky yet sweet boy. I don’t know if they are related for sure, but he and Luna were brought to the shelter together. Leo is one of the most outgoing kittens we currently have. He reminds me of the Spice Girls. He is either playing hard, purring for attention, or sleeping in the middle of a cuddle puddle. He was great at the vet and in the car. He is getting used to wearing a harness, and we have started stroller training. He’s good with nail trimming and comes when I click my tongue. He gets along with all the kittens, but Apollo or Luna might be a good buddy to be adopted with due to their similar energy levels.
Luna
Luna is a delicate and sweet princess with loud purrs. After a parasite infection made her ill, she developed an aversion to the food she was eating. It took some time for me to find food she’d eat. She’s more selective than any other kitten when it comes to food. She has a beautiful grey coat that might become medium/long in the future. She is playful just like Leo, but she can also chill. She is fast becoming my lap kitty. She climbs up on my lap and chest, purring constantly. She is independent, and I find her to be more people-oriented. She gets along with everyone, but Leo or Cosmo would be the top two picks for her. She’s good with nail trimming and comes when I click my tongue.
Apollo
Apollo and Leo are quite similar. They are both confident and playful. They have a big appetite and love food, so if you want to train them, you’ll have fun with either of them. Apollo loves everyone: people, teenagers, Phoebe, GB, and he even attempted to be friends with BB (he was rejected!). He was the most confident when we took each kitten outside. He loves being picked up, and he just stays there happily in our arms. He gets along with everyone and any of the kittens would be good to be adopted with him. He’s good with nail trimming and comes when I click my tongue.
Cosmo
Cosmo is a laid-back sweetheart. You can tell the difference between Cosmo and Pluto by looking at their noses. Cosmo has dark spots, whereas Pluto has a pink nose. He enjoys cuddling with GB and might appreciate having a friendly adult cat in his forever home. He is playful, but he tires more quickly than other kittens. He might be a good fit for a laid-back family. He was rescued with Apollo, Nova, and Pluto, though we’re not sure if they are related. I often find him cuddling more with Luna and Pluto. He has a pair of striking blue eyes that will stay blue. He’s good with nail trimming and comes when I click my tongue.
Pluto
Pluto is also laid-back compared to Leo and Apollo. Lately, he’s been very snuggly–curling up and sleeping on my husband’s lap. He would stay there as long as he could. He might be more people-oriented too, but he also plays well with everyone. He sleeps with Cosmo on occasion, but he’s comfortable sleeping alone too. He is pretty independent, like Luna. He’s good with nail trimming and comes when I click my tongue.
Nova
Nova used to be a quiet and reserved girl, but she’s much more affectionate and playful these days. She likes to wrestle with other kittens, so she would be happier with another kitty with a similar play style! She can also chill after a good play. Her markings are absolutely beautiful. She has very well defined lines on her back and on her face. She seems to like everyone and I don’t know if I’d pick one kitten over another for her. She’s good with nail trimming and comes when I click my tongue.

Dear Bordernerd, I commend you for all you do for these little critters. Presently our family has been trying to find good homes for 9 kittens, 4 already have been adopted. We have 4 left, my husband and I have tried many ways to find them homes. Shelters are full capacity, some are kill shelters and we don’t believe in that setting for these babies. Wd don’t know what else to do, except try to reach out to you for some help in finding these little ones homes. Has been a rough start for one litter since the mom was killed by a dog, the other mama cat, her sister was taken inside tge house by us, and the other kittens for everyone’s safety. Thank you for your help. You are doing an awesome job saving these little critters. My e mail is sonia.lissette2015@gmail.com, phone is 417 987 6643, we live in Texas, 45 minutes north of tge RGV.
