About Us

As a volunteer, I have trained Search and Rescue/Human remain detection dogs and Animal Assisted Therapy dogs. I am also a founder of a local non-profit group to support dog owners with behavior problems. We offer group support and training for dogs that are shy, fearful, dog-dog reactive as well as foster dogs that need socialization and basic training.

I believe in creative training. I want the dogs to want to do things with me not because “I said so”. Instead of resorting to physical punishment, we can be creative and think of a way to get the behavior some other way. I use things dogs love: food, toys, attention, access to ___, play, etc to reward good behaviors. I use clicker often to get more precise and complex behaviors. This does not mean I am permissive or soft; though my friends might disagree… I do set boundaries and rules that my dogs and I can follow-through. I try to go the extra mile so that I can make a behavior happen without inflicting pain.

I am a certified professional dog trainer through CCPDT, a professional member of Association of Pet Dog Trainers, a member of The Pet Professional Guild Member, and Truly Dog Friendly Trainer.

  1. My first visit to your blog, but I have enjoyed your videos, your work with the fosters at ABCR, and your email updates on the ABCR yahoo group email. You seem to do a great job helping each one reach their potential. Your post on dog training myths was excellent!
