“Which Harness Do You Use?”

I get asked this every day. Instead of responding individually, I decided to create a note here for easy reference. I’ve tried nearly ten different harness brands, but I haven’t found one I feel confident enough to recommend. The ones I currently use work well enough, but each has its flaws, so I have to be mindful. I’m still searching for one that’s escape-proof, comfortable, and lightweight. When I find ‘the one,’ I’ll share it here.

Clear gates
I don’t recommend this gate for older kittens and dogs that try to jump over gates. They are light weight and not very sturdy.

Stroller
I use this stroller to take GB and the foster kittens to the vet’s office, sometime to walk around the neighborhood. The carrier part is detachable and I use it to transport kittens safely in my car. You can attach the short leashes to their harnesses for added safety.

Flexible Pet Barrier

Recommended only for babies. The gate is short, older kittens and cats can easily jump over.

Velcro Harnesses for Little Kittens

I had to try so many different brands until I found these. I use them to get young kittens get used to wearing one. They are soft, light weight, comfortable and machine washable. Only works with tiny kittens. Not suitable for a seatbelt as the velcro is not 100% secure.

Door Latch for Cats and Dogs
I love this. It allows a door to stay open just wide enough for cats to get through.

Lick Mats with Suction Cups Seen in this video

There are tons of companies that make these on Amazon. Please do your research and find your favorite.

Churu Treats There are many other companies that make similar treats. Seen on this video

They are big enough for dogs not to swallow, small enough for kittens to play with.

Soft Recovery Collar

I bought mine from another seller but she is no longer selling these.

REScue Disinfectant

ID tag with QR code

I like these! You don’t have to put your phone number on for the world to see!

30-inch Tall Gate

The gaps are a little wide for 4-5 week old kittens.

Cactus Cat Scratcher

Portable Play Pen Seen in this video

This was handy when I had to give my kittens medicated shampoo every day. It’s just a little cumbersome to take it down.

Poop Scooper with a Holder

Kitten Size Breakaway Collars

Puppy/Kitten Pen Seen in this video

It’s easy to install and take down. But really tiny kittens CAN squeeze through. You can also get a cover for it.

Mesh Cover for the Kitten Pen (above)

Foldable/Resizable Silicon Litter Box for Kittens

I like this for tiny kittens. You can change the height for easy access. I love the bonus scooper.

Snuggle Buddy with a Heartbeat Simulator

Re-chargeable Heart Beat Simulator

Rolling Ball Toy Seen in this video Not all cats like this toy, but Baby loves it!

Cat Sling Seen in this video I use it when I have a singleton or a very shy kitten I need to bond

  2. What kind of harness do you use for GB? I just adopted a beautiful 3 yr old black cat from the Denver Dumb Friends League. He already uses food puzzles and plays fetch. I think he would enjoy being outside.

    1. I get asked that often, but I still haven’t found one that I feel good about recommending yet. GB’s on his sixth harness right now. When I find one that I think is perfect, I’ll share!
